MT Brewery Review
Tamborine Mountain, Queensland
May 2009
It has been a few weeks now since my return from Queensland and my visit to Tamborine Mountain, which is inland from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I stayed overnight and tried a few beers from one of the new breweries on the mountain which has been opened for 3 months now, but has been brewing for 12 months all up. They got this system pictured when BlueTongue upgraded to a bigger system. It was made in the Czech Republic and is designed for making beers using decoction mashing. There is a large range of beer styles and the current brewer Ian has been making a lot of his specialty Belgian Beers and was happy to talk to me about them. Here are just 3:
YIPPY IPAA good hoppy nose with a flavour that finishes with a massive hop bitterness.
ST BRIDGET (older & younger style)
The older version had some more phenolic tones and funk. The fresher one was cleaner and had a ripe prune/plum nose with more distinctive differences in the beer across the palate.
Great Beers!!!!!
0909 CUVEE BLONDE
Slight Raisin nose with a distinctive Belgium style and a refreshing citric note in this easy drinking beer. Almost as good as the St Bridget.
